When does the football season start and what should we expect?
The season typically starts in late July of each year with two weeks of tryouts.  Practice during these two weeks are Monday thru Friday.  The first week of tryouts is is spent in helmets only and is mostly conditioning work.  There is no contact during the first week.  The second week of tryouts is in full pads.  Players will learn to tackle during the second week.  Each squad can only have 35 players.  Players that make each squad will practice a third week Monday thru Friday before scaling back to a more limited practice schedule.  Games begin in early to mid August and the season usually ends in early November.

What squad do I sign my son up to play on?
Click here for the SYFC age and weight chart.  Use this chart to determine what squad to sign up on.

What do I need to purchase for my child to play football?

Each player will recieve everything they need to play football with the exception of two things.
1.  Cleats.
2.  A girdle.
Click here for shopping results for girdles.
Click here for a flyer with a list of both legal and illegal cleats.
Your helmet, pads, practice and game uniforms will all be provided.  Note that all equipment is to be returned at the end of each season.

Can you explain what our volunteer responsibilities are?
Each family must volunteer for 12 hours (six shifts) during a season for every player or cheerleader in the program.
Volunteer shifts are picked at the beginning of each season and range from working at the front gate or snack bar to working a chain gang or PAR for a game.  Shifts at gates or in the snack bar are always scheduled either before or after your child's game so you won't miss the game.

What is PAR?
PAR stands for Play Allotment Rule.  Each player gets a minimum of 8 plays during each game.  The PAR volunteer's responsibility is to count plays for each player until the mininum number of plays is reached for the entire team.
