MATT RAY - JR. MIDGETS
Matt Ray is a veteran high school football coach currently serving as an Assistant Coach at Granite Bay High School as of March 2026. He is part of the Grizzlies’ football staff and has also coached the Pee Wee Jr. Grizzly level to a combined 15–2 record over the past two years, including two championship game appearances and an undefeated 8–0 championship season in 2025. Prior to this role, he served at Union Mine High School from 2020 to 2022 as Athletic Director and later as Head Football Coach for one season, where he led the program to an 18–1 overall record and secured SVC league titles at both the JV and Varsity levels. Ray previously gained prominence as the founding head coach at Antelope High School from 2008 to 2020, where he built the program from the ground up, compiled a 118–51 record over 12 seasons, guided the team to 10 consecutive playoff appearances, and won four league championships. Earlier in his career, he coached at East Nicolaus High School from 2005 to 2007, winning 25 games and capturing two Northern Section championships in three seasons.
Ray comes from a strong coaching lineage, as both his father, Jeff, and grandfather, Don, coached at Quincy High School for a combined 50 years. As a player, he set multiple passing records as a quarterback at Quincy High School before continuing his collegiate career at UNLV, Butte College, and Troy State University.
